Over the first 2 weeks of the summer term, Whiteparish has already had a number of sporting teams out representing the school. Arthur (year 6) and Charlie (year 5), tell the story of the Year 5/6 Tag Rugby tournament:
On the 18th April, the Year 5/6 Tag Rugby team went to Bishop's school playing fields to compete in a rugby tournament. In our first group we beat 2 teams St Marks and Bemerton, but lost to Broad Chalke, meaning we came second in our group. We the qualified into a second placed group, where we won another game menaing we finished 7th overall. It was a lot of fun because we improved in every match.
It has not only been tag rugby where the school has been represented. A team of Year 5s went out to compete in the Salisbury Dodgeball festival. Compete they did returning to school as a medal winning team! Immy and George tell the story.
On Wednesday 24th April at Wyvern St Edmunds, a team of year 5s attended a dodgeball festival, where there were 15 other schools (mostly year 6s). The sports hall had been divided into 3 courts, meaning three games at a time. In our first game we played a hard match with St Paul's ending in a 5:5 draw. Next we got our first win against St Peter's winning an easy 7:3. We won our next 2 matches qualifying us for the semi-finals. We fought Alderbury in our semi final but lost 8:2, but we won our 3rd/4th play off against St Osmunds 6:4, securing our bronze medals, meaning we left the tournament with a smile on our face.
Well done to all the children who represented the school and to all of the parents who helped with transport. It is a huge achievement for our pupils to compete against other schools, some of whom are six times the size of Whiteparish.
