Day 1 - Arrival and a bit of Boat Racing

We arrived safe and sound at 12pm after a smooth journey. After our packed lunches, we headed straight to Portland for Dragon Boating. πŸ‰ πŸ›Ά  We split off into two teams (Pink and Orange) and I was extremely proud of all the children for not only giving it a go but for using excellent teamwork and communication to row the boats across the harbour. After some practise and then 3 tight races, the Orange Team won 2-1.

Upon arrival back at the Centre, we had dinner and there was a record amount of clean plates! 🍽

After dinner, the children settled in to their rooms, decided their bunks and started unpacking - everyone is happy and smiling! The children have headed off for their evening activity before they return to the chalets for the night.

Tomorrow, all the groups try fencing, sensory trail and abseiling. Stay tuned for lots more updates and photos… πŸ˜ƒ

Day 2 - Heights and Harnesses

Today, all the groups have been doing activities involving harnesses. We are incredibly proud of all the children for attempting the activities and achieving in their own ways. The kindness and encouragement showed by all was admirable. Some of us have had a go at Abseiling and Trapeze and all have been on the sensory trail and the archery range… 🎯

At the end of a really busy day, the children have been hunting for flags around the site and gone to bed after a busy first full day.

Tomorrow, we’re all having a go at Zip Wire and some of us are off to Portland again for some sailing! I’m sure you’re all missing your children lots but rest assured that there have been lots of smiles, laughter and memories made and I’m sure more will be made tomorrow.

Day 3 - Zipping through the Week…

This morning, all groups had a go at the Zip Wire… and what a view they had! As well as this, some of us have had a go at Rifle Shooting and Jacob’s Ladder. Everyone has had another fabulous day and there have been some fears conquered and goals achieved! πŸŽ‰

This afternoon, two of the groups have been back to Portland for keelboat sailing. Three boats set sail in to Weymouth harbour and children were given the opportunity to steer using the tiller and to set the sails sending them on the right course. Although they were on the lookout for the resident dolphin, we were only able to spot tiny shoals of fry in the shallows. Everyone had a wonderful afternoon on the water. ⛡️

Tomorrow, our last full day, the children have another action-packed day ahead, culminating in the renowned Ozzie Bay Disco… πŸ•ΊπŸͺ© πŸ’ƒ

Day 4 - it’s been a long, albeit incredible day!

Apologies for the delay but we’ve been busy packing, dancing and battling iPad storage and internet…

This morning, the children have been climbing, fencing and tackling the trapeze. As well as that, some have learned survival skills! ⛺️

This afternoon, one group went Keelboat Sailing while the others conquered the climbing wall and played a new sport: Aeroball.

This evening, we have danced our socks off at the disco to some classic tunes culminating in a rendition of “It’s Coming Home” - don’t be surprised if your children come back very tired tomorrow; they have done extremely well in the heat, given everything a go and done it with a smile on their faces - we are SUPER proud of all of them and they can’t wait to see you tomorrow. Here’s a picture, pre-disco:
