  • Year 5/6 and Year 3/4 football teams out representing the school

    Tue 24 Oct 2023

Wider curriculum opportunities for children to represent the school across a range of sports is central to the school's core offer, and the sporting calendar is well and truly underway, with both the Year 5/6 and the Year 3/4 football teams out representing the school at inter school tournaments as part of the school's engagement with the School Games programme.

Freddie and Jacob take up the story of the Year 5/6 tournament:

Year  5/6 went to a tournament on Wednesday 4th October at Pembroke Park Primary School. Our first match was against Gomeldon and was an evenly matched game with a score of 0-0. Our next match was against Alderbury, with a 2-0 loss in that game. We then faced Pembroke Park, which was tough but we manged to hold them to another 0-0 draw with some good defending. Then we faced Broad Chalke, after dominating the match we were awarded a penalty. Freddie scored and we had a win. We then had 3 extra games and didn't lose any of them, finishing 4th overall. It was great fun and we were proud of our achievements.

The Year 3/4 team competed in a tournament on Tuesday 17th October, playing a total of 11 games. It was the team's first competitive event and it was great to see them record a number of draws and wins across the competition.

As always a huge thank you to all of the parents who make it possible for the children to attend these events through their support with transport.

    Tue 03 Oct 2023

The Year 5/6 football squad kicked off the Whiteparish sporting calendar with a friendly against Alderbury school on Monday 2nd October. The fixture was designed to give the team and run out and was an opportunity for all players to get some time out on the pitch ahead of some upcoming tounaments. Played over 4 quarters the friendly allowed the team to show off some of the skills they had been practising at football club and to try playing in some different formations. It was a great learning opportunity for everyone - well done Whiteparish!
